SYLVIA PLATH-

Every man’s dream: smart, beautiful and out of her mind.
I don’t mean to re-start blogging on such a tragic subject.
In English we have started out poetry unit.
It started on a rather dark note; we were all brought to the attention of Sylvia Plath. She was born Oct 27 1932, in Massachusetts. She had astounding talent when it came to writing. Her ability to creatively put feelings into words was breath taking. After becoming a professional poet and writer she married another famous poet: Tom Hughes. He was considered extremely lucky. She was beautiful, fresh and was leading a wonderful life as it seemed. On the outside she was well put together, and very successful. On the inside it was a dark, depressing world. While attending college as a freshman she tried to take her own life. The stress and sadness she was dealing with was too much to bear. She overdosed on sleeping pills and hid underneath her deck, and was found days later. After recovering and graduating everyone thought she was ready to lead a life of happiness with Ted and the two kids they had together.

However. Nobody saw her still disappearing inside. Sylvia, being torn apart underneath her façade of happiness: unseen.

She sealed the room of her children, and gassed herself with her oven.
This ended her life.

This is the awful outcome of this beautiful amazing poet.
Perhaps we have friends, family or people we don’t even know the name of around us struggling with this same problem. Just something to think about, that’s been on my mind for the past little bit.

  1. I am unendingly glad you have returned to the blogosphere.

Sylvia Plath was amazing. Remember our chat about her on the sidewalk the other afternoon?

    I'm so glad we're friends.
